UAE President to begin official state visit to US on Sept 23

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is set to make his first official visit to the US as President on Monday, September 23. The trip aims to bolster the already strong UAE-US relationship.

During his meeting with President Joe Biden, the two leaders will focus on enhancing collaboration in key areas including the economy, investment, technology, renewable energy, and climate action. The partnership between the UAE and the US, spanning over five decades, is characterized by significant economic ties, with bilateral trade amounting to $31.4 billion in 2023.

In 2023, US exports to the UAE totaled $24.8 billion, a 19% increase from the previous year, resulting in an $18.3 billion trade surplus—the fourth largest for the US globally. The UAE’s trade relationships with all 50 US states support 166,000 American jobs, highlighting the economic importance of their partnership.

Key Areas of Cooperation:

  • Renewable Energy: The UAE’s Masdar company is leading significant investments in renewable energy projects across US states, including Texas and California.
  • Technology: Collaboration in technology is also vital, with partnerships between UAE’s G42 and Microsoft Azure advancing AI and cloud computing.
  • Space Exploration: Ongoing joint efforts in space exploration are supported by UAE entities working closely with NASA and other US-based space companies.

With UAE investments in the US surpassing $1 trillion across sectors like real estate and renewable energy, this visit is expected to strengthen economic cooperation and further align both nations' goals for a sustainable and prosperous future.
